Crash Retrieval System (also referred to as the Black Box)

has the equipment necessary to image vehicle data using Bosch Crash Retrieval System (CDR). Bosch, working with General
Motors, Chrysler Ford Motor Company, and Toyota has developed the technology to image certain datum from their automobiles.
The CDR system images the data from the airbag
module to a laptop computer. Currently the system only supports certain GM, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota vehicles.
However, upgrades are planned in the future that will provide coverage for other manufactures. CDR imaging fee is $250.00
plus $115.00/hour for technician's time.
CARS, Inc., depending on the manufacture, year and make of the vehicle, may be able to provide the
following data (some systems may not provide all the data listed below):
1. Brake status (on or off) 5 seconds prior to impact
2. Vehicle speed 5 seconds prior to impact.
3. Engine speed 5 seconds prior to impact.
4. Percent of wide open throttle 5 seconds
prior to impact.
5. Lateral / Longitudinal Change in velocity (also refered to as "delta V")
6. State of warning lamp when event occurred.
7. State of driver's seat belt switch at impact (buckled or
not buckled).
8.
Time from vehicle impact to deployment.
9. Engine RPM.
10.
Stability Control acceleration; either lateral/longitudinal or both.
11. Stability Control Yaw rate.

Scene Mapping
and Diagramming
We at CARS, Inc. are constantly striving to provide our clients with professional
services by using the latest technology. To this end we have begun using laser mapping/surveying equipment to map
scenes. This allows us to produce diagrams that are accurate and make exceptional exhibits for trial, mediation
or both.
We do not limit our scenes to "automobile crash sites" but can
do other sites as well. If you need an area mapped, we can map it and produce a diagram to be used at mediation,
trial or both. Our mapping includes two mapping technicians. Scaled scene diagrams are prepared from
the scene mapping at a fee of $115.00/hr for each technician.
